Pillows with that Sofa?

After sharing all those fabulous sofas yesterday, I couldn’t help wanting to show you some of my favorite pillows. These soft works of art are so pretty! I posted a white back about the artist, Barbara Zaretsky of BZDesign. Her creations are hand dyed and hand embroidered. How amazing would these be scattered all around your nest to welcome Spring?!

DIMORESTUDIO in Milan {Freshly Designed}

Let’s start the week off right! This is the 18th century Palazzo home of designers Britt Moran and Emiliano Salci of DIMORESTUDIO. Coincidentally, one of the living room chairs was in the Soft Chairs, Creature Comforts post a while back. But I didn’t see the entire space until yesterday. I can’t believe how much I love this space. The simple layering, the lighting, the beautiful pieces, and the kitchen (after the jump) are simply stunning. I could go on and on, so I hope this space does for you what it does for me; it thrills my soul! Have a wonderful week!

Art To Scale

A large piece of art in an eclectic space is so nice. I love a gallery wall, too, but I love to see a piece of art cover or inhabit a wall on its own. It allows me to focus and really see what’s there, in the painting, photo, collage or whatever it is. Especially when there are lots of layers and textures in the room, a bold-sized piece of art is perfect to ground the space. And these spaces say it much better than I! Enjoy your weekend!

Rustic Tables + Vintage Modern Chairs

Today on design flutter it’s all about lovely spaces filled with tables of a certain size and vintage modern chairs. Every one of these rooms thrill for the special touches. The alchemy of antique, woodsy or nature-inspired tables with clean-lined, Danish-style or mid-century chairs conjures such fabulous atmosphere. Hope they kick-off your weekend on an inspiring note!

Natalie’s Vintage Loveseat

I just received the nicest email from Natalie sharing a photo of her beautiful vintage loveseat. It’s the smaller mate of a turquoise floral sofa I had at belle patine. The geometric pillows she chose for it are perfect, and that 60′s outfit on the wall is such a fun touch. Thanks for sharing the vintage love, Natalie!

Chartreuse to Welcome Spring {Fresh Start Monday}

There is a color borne of a pale green-yellow French liqueur made from brandy and aromatic herbs called chartreuse. It’s half yellow half green, the perfect shade to bring the outdoors in, pretty against a light or dark palette, and the color of Spring. I keep a little vintage pin on my desk just for its chartreuse-ness (my favorite color). Here’s an idea for this week: pick a new favorite color, or reaffirm your forever favorite. Look for a new pair of sunglasses, or flowers or something! so that you can bask in the color that pleases you the most. And have a colorful Spring week!

Map Quest

Maps are everywhere these days, and I love it. Here are some unique navigationals in gorgeous color and styled up with great vintage decor. If you’re hunting for treasures this weekend, a vintage map is a cherry find. Have a good one!

New Goods at belle patine!

I’ve been on the hunt for the past few weeks, and am a bit overwhelmed with all the fabulous things I’ve found for you! There haven’t been enough hours in the day for me to photograph everything currently in my design studio. I’m in the process of re-stocking the Asheville spaces and getting all the new goods onto bellepatine.com. Best thing, always, is to email me if you’d like to see more! Here are just a few of the new goods …

I just finished some restoration projects. Antique and vintage chairs that I had re-upholstered in neutral canvas, with some beautiful details like antique nailheads, black denim welting, and leather arm covers. Those vintage red leather babies are so gorgeous that I just had the seats plumped up and kept the original leather. And what about that mid-century Plycraft swivel recliner! Yesterday, found some rustic, antique mill carts and industrial stools. Am picking up a retro wrought iron desk and chair tomorrow, and I have 3 mid-century patio/garden sets! So please be in touch if you would like pricing, photos or locations for anything (and we ship). Cheers and have a great week!

Vintage Modern Synchronicity

You’ve probably gathered that my idea of the bees knees in design is blending eras, patinas and design styles. The most beautiful synchronicities flow from combinations of mid-century modern, antique, vintage, rustic and industrial pieces. In Architectural Digest’s (AD) April 2012 issue we get to feast on the perfect VM cocktail of designer Isabel López-Quesada’s home in Madrid. From AD: “The industrial setting dovetailed nicely with the designer’s admired style, which is equal parts sensuality and swagger. Read the interview and article here – Isabel is a force! And enjoy your weekend!

Bedrooms for a Good Night’s Rest {Fresh Start Monday}

Good Morning! How did you sleep last night? Did you know we spend a third of our whole existence sleeping! Since it’s a key ingredient to good health and so much time is spent in bed, there’s no doubt that a big portion of our interiors inventing and re-inventing should focus on our bedrooms. What do you like to experience when you open your eyes in the morning? What’s on the bedside? This week, add something to your bedroom that truly comforts you and enhances dreaming. Maybe a scented candle, a vase of fresh cut stems, or a beautiful vintage reading lamp. Here are some soothing and beautifully designed sleeping spaces meant to inspire. Wishing you a fresh start every morning after a good night’s rest! P.S. The last photo (after the jump) is my idea of nirvana.
